| If you were at home surrounded by food and modern technology (ie the telephone) I would say, you probably should have taken the whole dose. But as you were being very physically active (walking miles and miles) and were in "the middle of nowhere" I think you did the right thing. Discretion really is the better part of valor. A bit of a high is better for you than passing out in the middle of the woods someplace. Once you have a better handle on how the insulin works with your body, and how exercise enters the mix, you'll be able to avoid the highs as well, but in this situation, I think you did the right thing.
