I was shy of testing and injecting for the first year or 2 after being diagnosed just because I was getting used to it myself and I wasn't sure what people would think. But now, I am just fine with it. I test in front of people, although when around strangers I ask if they mind, and they never had. And, I am on the pump now, so the injections are not any worry anymore. But, when I was on MDI, I could inject in front of anyone but my sister who was terribly scared of needles.
