Funnygrl, if you have the insertion set inserted with nothing running into it, you will run the greater risk of it allowing fluids to seep out. Does that make sense? It also gets more irritated, from what I have read here from others who did it the way you are doing it.

Parents...WHO NEEDS THEM? J/K. Read my story about my mom when I had the worst hypo of my life. Here's a woman who otherwise cared for me and took care of me most of my life treating me like I was just the biggest irritant in the world when I couldn't fend for myself. For whatever reason, every single one of us has that one person in our lives who just doesn't "get it" with our disease...and it seems that "mom" is many times that person. Maybe this is a defense mechanism against the reality that their perfect kid, the one they went through all the trouble protecting and teaching to be perfect, is not perfect. <--That's my theory with my mother, and eventually she came around some.
