If you've been running high frequently then you can sometimes get low symptoms when your blood sugar is normal. If this is the case then the way to stop it is to get your sugars normal most of the time, and stop treating symptoms when you are in the normal range (if you think you are going to drop more and/or have symptoms and can't test, then of course treat).

Good luck finding a new doctor. I have an endo who really isn't as agressive as I'd like, too, and tends to brush off my concerns. I'm just too lazy to go find a new doctor at the moment, so I just ignore what he says and do my own thing (and my own research to find solutions to things he doesn't think is a problem).
