If they take it an hour late, then they may go an hour with no insuiln at which point their BG will creep up. That is the #1 reason many split their lantus dose into a morning and evening dose.
If they give it too early, then they may have time where the two overlap. So that could drop them down.
So for some it does matter, not all though.
