Spike is right on.

Getting an A1c reading that high should be a major league wake up call. You need information, a plan and willingness to make changes in your management routine or you are heading in the direction for some very unpleasant complications down the road.

If your doctor didn't tell you these things already, add to the above list: A new doctor.

While this may appear like "ganging up" or overreacting it isn't. You have a condition that can maim and kill you, if it is not managed. Whatever it takes, you need to begin today to take steps to get your A1c below 7.

Now, after that bit of verbal "slapping around", let me remind you that at Diabetesforums we are all in the same boat. We all have diabetes. This is an online support group with a ton of information and experience from which you can draw.

Please post your questions, your rants, your raves, what have you. We will try to help you get in control.

We take care of our own.
