| For many years (too young to remember) I was on NPH and R. The theory applies the same as with NPH and Humalog/Novolog/Apidra. You just ahve to watch how you give that insulin at lunch and with a bedtime snack because of the peaks NPH has. That is what makes it difficult since you will have different needs for insulin based on time after taking the NPH. Most have switched to Lantus, but some still use that method. I for one hated NPH so was glad to be off of it when I started pumping.
