I have this problem on the balls of three fingers - the fissures can go quite deep and are very painful. Emoluments did not do any good so the doctor prescribed hydrocortisone cream (1%). When I put a dab of this on the fissures and then wrap a piece of Micropore round to force the fissure together, it will heal - until a new one develops.

I have to keep smiling - there's no other choice - but I do growl occasionally
