I was dx'ed at age 32...type 1, no one in my family has ever had type 1 as far back as anyone can look. I have three children, all well and healthy. I personally think that there are some families with a genetic predisposition for it, and for some I think it's purely some environmental/outside issue. I think thats the case for myself, though I may never be able to prove it.
