Grace, it could be that you didn't put up with the Metformin long enough. I had terrible side effects which then just gradually disappeared after six months and were completely gone after twelve. Perhaps you are one of the unfortunate people who has to suffer longer before the side effects go.

I know how much you will have suffered, but if nothing else works for you and Metformin does work - then maybe it's worth another go. But certainly you will need a lot of support and understanding from those around you.

Medication - Metformin 850mg x 3; Pioglitazone (Actos) 30mg x 1; Gliclazide 160mg x 2; plus stuff for hypertension & cholesterol with Aspirin E/C for the cardio/vascular system

I have to keep smiling - there's no other choice - but I do growl occasionally
