Newly diagnosed

Hi everyone. I am feeling very sick right now as I write this and I could do with some help if possible.

I registered with a new doctors surgery last week and handed in my urine sample. The nurse said the sugar level was high and because

1)I am pretty overweight
2)my mother and Brother had Diabetes

she has asked me to do a fasting test tomorrow morning. To cut a long story short I am scared. It was her attitude more than anything that upset me. She obviously disliked me on sight because of my weight and actually seemed disappointed I didnt have high blood pressure too!
She also claimed there was no such thing as "pre Diabetes" which made me suspicious.

I have none of the typical Diabetes symptoms but am prepared to believe I have it and will consider this as a wake up call even if I don't have it.

I suppose I would like to know whether one fasting test could possibly be inaccurate or whether I will need more tests.

I'm sorry to introduce myself to the forums this way but I'm prety shaken by the whole experience so far.
