Wow...what a good question...saw it on another Diabetes Forum last month, and I couldn't stop thinking about it.
I can barely remember any days when I didn't have it. In fact, the one day that comes clearly to my mind was about a month before being diagnosed when I only cared about getting enough water at the state fair and could care less about enjoying the day.
A day without diabetes...I think I'd have a drink...a good glass of wine, then I'd have a cigarette...then I'd probably eat a funnel cake. Maybe go to a movie and eat popcorn and tons of milk duds in my popcorn. Then I might even go run for a while without having to worry about my BGs. Then I might talk to all those non-diabetics about how diabetics can really eat what they want (as long as they bolus correctly for it) and to stop judging them.
My diabetes turned 21 this year. And my opthamologist just told me that he would never had known I was diabetic had I not told him. Guess there are small blessings in the midst of our struggles.
Not complaining here...just dreaming.
