I eat fruit on a regular basis, usually banannas, apples or pears. On average, I estimate them to be 30g of carbs. I usually eat them between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner so a 30g carb load 2 hrs or so after a meal doesn't cause me any difficulty.

When my RD/CDE educated a group of us about diet, there was never any caution about fruit other than to avoid juices and large (read high carb) portions.

Grapefruit can reduce the efficacy of some medications so it should be eaten with that caution in mind.

My last A1C was 5.6, I will probably be taken off meds next check in April.
