I guess I'm an "exceptional" case because I got really sick from a surgery last year.
I went no less than 50 times last year. That includes my PCP, my nutritionist, my CDE, a urologist (for kidney stone lithotripsy), my OB/Gyn (for depo shot and laparoscopy), MRI and CT scan people (for migraines and for spleen problems), a general surgeon (to see if I needed to have my spleen removed), several nurse practitioners (to qualify for my pump and make sure I was doing what they told me to), several ER docs (for migraine and kidney stone problems), two endos (one I hated and one I am with now), the Cozmo clinical nurse (to check up on my pump settings), my knee surgeon (to make sure the surgery was successful)... I could go on and on...
However, this year should be a bit different. So far I've seen my PCP three times to check my INR because of my spleen, my endo twice for starting Symlin and a follow up, and in March I will see a hemotologist because of my weird factor levels for blood clotting. After that, I will see my PCP for the INR once a month and my endo every three months. I am hoping that I won't have to see anybody else...
