Controlling bg when sick

Just wondering....I am rarely sick, but I had an episode last summer for about 3 weeks, when my sugars were out of whack...my fasting was between 160-190 (normally 95-105). I couldn't bolus enough even when I was eating fairly low carbs (would average 200-250 during the day).

My last A1C was 6.0, so I'm in pretty good control.

The last couple of days I've felt generally crummy, and my sugars are again uncharacteristically high. Which leads me to believe I may be fighting off some kind of bug.

Just wondering how other folks are affected by common colds and viruses. Any special routines you follow when ill to keep sugars reasonable levels?

thanks in advance!
