| New to Type 1 Diabetes
Hey, im roxy. and im new to all this.
I was in holiday in France when i was Diagnosed, just over a week ago.
I spent most of my holiday and more in a France hospital. it was hard work, and i was fed up after a few days, as the language barrier was hard, and i was missing home.
Before we went on holiday, i was drinking and weeing lots, feeling tired but couldnt sleep and lost weight, i was already underweight so it wasnt good. but i really thought no more about it. i had look at the symptems of diabetes, but thought i couldnt possibly have it.
so i went on holiday as normal, but started getting very unwell. i couldnt walk far without getting out of breath. 3 days into the holiday, i decided to go see a doctor. he was treating me for altitude sickness, and gave me some pills. after insisting that i was anorexic. which im not.
the pills didnt seem to do much good, so i went back and he gave me some more, and told me to drink lots of coka cola. so with that we went out about bought a big bottle of coke.
but that night i became badly ill and couldnt stop been sick.
it wasnt normal sick, it was this black stuff, which i assume was all the coke.
The next day i couldnt hardly walk, and colapsed and was ruched into hospital.
thay took an xray, which i cant remember having and hooked me up to a drip.
then the following moring told me i had Diabetes.
It was a real shock to the system, and really just wanted to go home.
and after a week of been in the hospital i did, and was sent to a local hospital here.
i just stay overnight tho, they showed me how to inject myself and told me what to eat etc. they said that didnt matter much as they want me to put on weight, i weigh 5 stone 4. which isnt very good for my height and age.
I arrived home today. and it feels good to finaly eat some proper food. hospital food isnt nice.
anyhoo, so thats my story, im ok about it all tho. i cant change it so i'l just have to get on with it.
hope everyone is ok, and im happy to have people i can talk to about it if i have any worries.
