I think he's pretty impressive and through lucking out by finding his forum right when I was diagnosed the highest A1c I have ever had was 5.4...I do about double the carbs he recommends, but only since beginning insulin..I managed to go 2 yrs without thanks to reading him, Em is right his personal story is good reading... He is in his 70's now and still working and seeing patients (at $500 per hour) perhaps that is why he is not travelling round..lol...and really, if he was, I think a lot of people might just presume he was a snakeoil salesman...
I know that since I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago, low carb is way more accepted and talked about and accepted as valid ...at least it seems that way to me and going by my Doc's attitude and the D edu .centre here..
If you google him, his site had quite a lot of the book free to read online, and as others have said, there is good stuff there, even if one does not choose to follow his dietary mantra.
