| Is Anyone Interested... in helping write a "starter kit" for noobs?? An "introduction to life with D" type of thing. Something that noobs can see on here, and have a good read of, and share with family and friends, something user friendly, and in laymans terms rather than medical mumbo-jumbo... Written BY D's, FOR D's.
I have seen another one, on an Aussie site, and its pretty good, but is tailored towards newly dxd t1 young Adults only... We need something that parents of newbie kids can relate to, something that t1.5s, t2s, and Gestational D's can all read and find useful...
obviously it would be divided into sections, eg:
-intro "so you have Diabetes... ra ra ra..."
-what is t1
-what is t1.5
-what is t2
-insulin therapy
-oral medications
-diet - carbs, low carbing, etc etc
-exercise
-sick days
-pumping
-mdi
-monitoring
-hypo treatments
etc etc...
AND... before anyone jumps up and down and says "they can find all that in the forums if they do a search!!"... think about it... as a noob, how much easier would it have been if someone had handed you a package and said "here... have a read of this, then ask anything you want", and for that package to be in plain English, rather than full of medical jargon?? I know that my mentals would have loved it. Yeah, they can do a forum search... but why not try to make it as easy for the noobs as we can?? Answer the questions they might not know they have?
Anyway, its just a suggestion... feel free to shoot it down if you wish!!
