| The reason is because of the carbonation. Without proper carbonation coke goes flat. That's why cans have expiration dates on them. I spent 5 years working at McDonalds and the coke boxes (bag in a box as it's called) had far out expiration dates. That was the syrup only.
That's one reason a 6 month old can may taste different than a 6 day old can.
