Hi Jentoe. My wife has never used the quickset, but looked them up, and it's a 90 degree insertion angle. The serter should work fine. She never bent a needle as far as we can remember when she used the sof set and the serter.
The problem seems to come from a combination of scar tissue, overusing areas of the body, and the angle the silhouette is inserted at.
