Firefox has a pretty hefty installed base. I would think they should support it.

I find it interesting that Carelink would have problems running on other platforms, considering it is a java application, and runs in Sun's Java Runtime Environment. (which is intented to be cross-platform.)

If it fails to work, I'd see the problem being with the folks that wrote the serial comm library that MM is using. (As I remember looking through the Carelink client code, it is a 3rd party library.)

One shouldn't go blaming Microsoft, Apple, or any OS/browser maker for problems like this .. if Minimed, or Smiths, or Animas really wanted to support Firefox/MacOS/Linux/Vista, they'd make it happen.

I did call them today, and the man I spoke to in the software department said there was nothing that could be done, and I had to wait at least two months for everything to be compatible with Vista, but even then no promises. He said that there was no way I could use Carelink with Firefox. I let him know how irritated I was, and he continued to tell me there was nothing he could do, except pass the word on that they should post on their website that you cannot use carelink with Firefox, or with Vista as your OS. I told him that compared to Firefox, IE takes forever to load anything up, but he kept telling me that there was something wrong with my PC, not IE.Oh well. All I can do is wait. I am not going to put the effort forth to take time out of my week to do a spreadsheet. If my Dr. wants numbers, he can read them out of my handwritten log as I have been doing for the past ten years at least. I just thought I would use carelink because it was so convenient. I was so excited to stop writing things by hand, or having to do any additional work to log my Blood glucose readings. Nothing I can do now. I completely agree with you that if they wanted to make it happen, they could.
