Hi Fran and welcome to the forums. I am the first type one to be diagnosed in my family at age 32. However, there are some type two's in my mother's side of the family.

My doctor has told me that many of us are predisposed to diabetes. However, it takes a lot of circumstances to set the train in motion to actually getting it. Teach your kids early about the signs and symptoms and teach them to eat properly. Hopefully, they can escape the diabetes train.
