Is it likely that I have Diabetes

My grandfather had Diabetes, My father also had Diabetes. He was insulin dependant, but never looked after himself properly.

I feel I have all the symptoms of a Diabetic.
I have constant thrush, it never goes away.
I wake up usually feeling groggy and tired.
I also get tingling in my hands and feet every now and then
I urinate quite a bit and also get quite thirsty at night.
If I eat the wrong foods my body tells me this the next day.

I bought a Glucose meter, it arrived today and I tested myself. The meter read 8.2. I dont have a clue what this means.

I am seeing the doctor next week, but what does 8.2 mean and is it quite a high reading.

Thank you very much for your help.
