Took 4mg of Avandia for five years with no apparent problems. A1c's ranged from 5.8 to 6.5. It was the 6.5 that caused the doc to up it to 8mg. Actually I take 2 4mg's a day at the same time. The insurance would not pay for 8mg pills, go figure. The best ting I can tell you if you take is to pay attention to your body and watch out for water retention. Especially if it causes you legs to swell, which is were it usually shows up first. Any chest pain while taking it call your doc asap. My doctor, in the light of taking it for 6 years with no problems, felt the increase of patients with side effects was rather minor. Be sure to read the pamlet concerning warnings and side effects.
