I spend 30 minutes on the treadmill each morning before breakfast (6 days/week - I take Saturday off to do chores). Also, I alternate days either free weights or doing some situps and pushups.
It doesn't sound like much but it seems like plenty to me. My 50 YO legs don't recover like they did 30 years ago.
