I'm gonna have to wing this a bit since it's been several years since I've read Dr. B's books.
1. The amount of carbs he advocates is nowhere near enough for the brain to function in top range. Haven't met a praticing CDE that actually refers to him with respect.
2. imHo, there is a sense of almost self-loathing that emanates from all his books. That's just my opinion, mind you. But I feel that he takes it as his personal mission to be "Correcter" than anyone else when it comes to Diabetes and he is --- His Diabetes.
Again this is fine
For Him but the goals and numbers he sets are just not attainable for lots of folks.
Let me place it in a context that makes sense to me:
Fella plays American Football, is pretty fair player, but he is able to start and play games with 1) broken ribs, 2) broken thumbs, 3) both ankles fractured and doing all this while less than a year removed from dying on the operating table twice.
So, does this mean that anyone else who cannot meet these same levels of "Macho" are not really worth our time------Nope, I don't think so.
Each person is different, with different requirements and abilities. Some on this board have talked about how their PCP or Endo are fine with them being 6.5 to 7.5 and we both know Dr. B. would go balistic over that.
I know this is a long answer , but boiled down I guess I have NO Patience for Authoritarian of any sort. Authoritarian by it's very nature is wrong.
