I'm 55 and workout in a similar way. I workout with weights and in between sets I run about a quarter mile for 45 to 60minutes three days per week. Three other days I mostly run only. When I run especially hard and log in extra miles, I find my lifting strength goes down as using the same weight I can only do 6 or 7 reps as aposed to my usual 10. Also my 1 rep max goes down considerably. Running less I can lift more. I assume muscle mass is increased when concentrating more on resistance training and of course proper nutrition. I'm still trying to figure uot proper nutrition. You should never neglect your cardio. At 17 recovery should come easier to you than me at 55 so "your mileage may vary".
