Not-Quite-So-Bad-for-you Sausage Cheese Balls

This is by no means a new recipe and is also definitely not a health food. But as the holidays approach I am trying to find ways I can give my family some of their old favorites without all the really bad stuff in them. They all love the sausage cheese balls at family gatherings but they have SOOO much fat in them. I just made some with one lb of ground Turkey sausage, 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese, and 3 cups of the lowfat Bisquick. Formed into 1 inch balls and baked at 350* for about 20 minutes. The original came out needing to be blotted on paper towels. These came out without the excess grease but were still very flavorful. I hope ya'll don't think a recipe like this is inappropriate for a diabetes site, but for me, it's all about compromises. Instead of throwing all caution to the wind during the holidays I'm searching for compromises that will let us celebrate with some of our favorites without totally blowing the diet!
