| I'm on MDI and bolus at least 15 minutes before I eat! Shouldn't one do that with a pump, too? It takes time for insulin to begin acting. It also takes time for food to begin to digest. As everyone above said, checking your BG a minute after you have finished eating shows nothing. Correcting with juice at that time will make you go high. Learn about how and when carbs affect your glucose levels. Dosing insulin without knowing how it works in your body is dangerous. Being on a pump does not instantly get and keep your blood glucose levels under control. You have a steep learning curve ahead. I hope you have someone knowledgeable guiding you!
