Remember when I posted this thread about "
Carwy and the possibility of Diabetes"? Well, once again, he's experiencing high sugar levels.
I give him heck because with all he's been stuck with, a little lancet poke should be a walk in the park (but, he winces when I have to poke him)!
Well, here are the numbers I've been seeing today (after he complained about feeling weak & said his legs felt wobbly):
3:30 PM = 71 (felt weak & wobbly)
6:20 PM = 209 (felt tired)
8:20 PM = 220 (felt tired & thirsty)
When his BG was 71, he ate some snacks that added up to over 60 grams of carbs, so that very likely sent him flying in the other direction. That said, I'm still watching with concern. When his BG was 209, he ate a turkery sandwich (at 35 g of carbs) and that sent him to 220.
I also got a call from his doctor (shortly after his last visit), saying that his TSH is a bit high (at about 5.4), but that the doctor was going to monitor it by testing everything (TSH, T3, T4) next time & start treatment with Levoxyl if anything was off at that time. If the T3 & T4 are fine, the doctor said he'd continue to just monitor the TSH. He said that with localized radiation to the lung area, hypothyroidism does sometimes follow.
Aside from that, I don't know that he checked Carwy's sugar levels, so I'm going to have them check him as soon as possible!! If it is Diabetes, he needs to put it in check before it gets the better of him.
I'm keeping a closer eye on him because he won't watch himself....I'm also extremely likely to bring the cookies his mom made to work tomorrow.

With the cookies, it's "out of sight, out of mind!" We don't need that kind of temptation around anyhow.
