I'm honest with my doctor. Most doctors want their diabetic patients to loose weight, if appropriate. I think that the commenter above about not producing enough insulin with Byetta is mistaken. As you can see from my sig , I have been on Metformin/Insulin/Byetta for about a couple of years now. This is getting to be a fairly common practice for people not responding well to Glucotrol. Medicare part D over-rode my insurance companies denial of the insulin/Byetta combination.
