St. Patrick's Day 5K

As many of you know, I love to run. Today we had a local 5K, and I was quite successful. Out of over 500 people I finished 9th (2nd in my age division!!). With a time of 18:06. Here is a URL to view results: 5K Race Results. They spelled my name wrong though. It should have been Streeter. That's a personal record for me. I have been training for about three months now for a marathon in St. Louis in April. I am very excited about that. I hope to do well, and the diabetes will not interfere with that!!

Today after the race, about an hour after the finish, I checked my blood sugar and holy ****...403 . I adjusted insulin the same before the race as I always do in training, but I think the pre-race nerves, followed by the surge of adrenalin I defiantly felt when the finish line was in sight and I saw that I was way ahead of my goal attributed to that.

But anyway I thought I'd share this with you guys. And I only hope the diabetes will treat me the same in the marathon as it does during training so I am not running high for three or four straight hours.
