R2, sounds like you didn't do too badly for your first splurge!

You made good decisions and checked your blood sugar...so i'd say you handled it well. Good for you.
When I really want a burger on bun at a restaurant, i'll pick you the inside of the thick homemade bun, leaving just a thin bun on top and bottom...I feel like i've had a "normal" burger this way, without all the carbs. I also "share" hubby's fries, taking 4-5 to have with my burger. As I do this very infrequently, I haven't notice a negative effect on my blood sugars....unfortunately, its not as "weight friendly" as it is blood sugar friendly for me!
