Essentially, you need to increase your insulin so that you have to eat more. When you achieve a positive calorie balance (calories in > calories out), you will start putting on weight. If you want to build muscle, you need to combine with this suitable resistance exercise (especially weights). Having a protein shake after workouts also helps.

Having said all that, it probably makes more sense at this stage of the game to focus your energies on improving your control and mastering MDI. When the honeymoon is over and things settle down, putting on weight will get easier. .
