It might matter what kind of exercise you are doing. Aerobic stuff I'd check on pretty quickly especially if you work at it past the fat burning stage - usually 45-60 mins. If you are lifting, I'd wait a little longer as the effects of that kind of exercise are typically longer and slower to show.

Always a good idea to do extra tests when starting any new regimen so you can gauge how your bod will react.
