| This is pure madness. What is also pure madness is that the authorities are leaving the other children there because there are 'no signs of abuse'. Please tell me what it is when you let a child die a slow, lingering death before your eyes and do nothing?
Holding back medical treatment in the belief that a higher power is going to take care of it IS abuse as far as I am concerned. I'm probably going to offend here, but 'respecting' people's religious beliefs can only go so far. If these parents let the girl die because they were praying to the fairies then you can bet they would have both older children taken away and find themselves behind bars. This kind of religious zeal is worrying to say the least; quoting absolute belief in a higher power should not excuse anyone from hideous acts in there here and now. Letting the other children see that belief in the supernatural is more important than love and protection of their sister (and them) cannot possibly end well.
