First A1C

Hi All, I am new here. Just diagnosed Type 1 about 3 weeks ago. Went to the DR because I just wasn't feeling right, very thirsty, losing weight (all the normal symptoms). They did a fingerstick and it was 274 (fasting). They diagnosed me right there, sent me for some blood tests and to the Endo in the office next door.

So I got the results and my A1C was 13.5%. I know that it is ridiculusly high but I dont know if it's higher or lower that other people who are newly diagnosed. How high does it go? I guess it doesnt really matter, just me being curious.

Anyway, I've been reading all the threads on here for about a week or so and I just wanted to say HI!
