mine was 14.9 and my BG was about 25 (450). i know that is pretty high on the A1C but my doctor thought swimming prevented earlier diagnosis i think (it went some way to controlling it). it all depends when it gets picked up. most people still have some islet cell function at diagnosis, the later it gets left the higher the readings!
