Everyone:

As one trained in religion, I don't actually find this story unbeleivable. The simple fact is that a lot of people who claim to be "beleivers" actually beleive in Holy Magic more than in The Divine Creator of the Universe (DCU).

This phenomenon is not limited to Christians as it is seen in all religions around the world. They see Holy Magic as the panacea for everything and will not accept the fact that the DCU endowed humans with the skills necessary to heal maladies (albeit not all of them).

Yes, there are recorded cases of miracles, but they are few and far between. The problem of Holy Magic is that when it doesn't work the blame for failure falls on the victim because his/her faith was not sufficient to warrant a healing.

I'd love to punish the parents as well, but I also realize that the parents have been punished by the death of their child. The minister lurking in the background has also lost a major PR battle. That being said, the state does have the right to argue child abuse and declare the parents unfit. However, the minister gets away with his assertions that somebody's faith failed.
