The real reasons are:
1) menopause....just started 2 years ago (I hear it takes FOREVER!!!!!!)
2) lots of highs-too many to count and no explanation...I take the NovoLog and my BS's still don't go down-i'm on a 1:15 ratio and usually take 1 unit more for the excess that leaks out when i remove the pen
3) frustration with both kids (every day is a life crisis for the 22 yr. old-she's VERY high strung) the 17 yr old incessantly plays on the computer and forgets to do anything (that aggravates me!!)
4) I secretary (support approx 15-20 people) for over 40 hrs. a week and am mentally exhausted at the end of the day...i need a vacation too!

I know there are a lot of excuses here.....but.....it is what it is.
I'm going to try to be a good girl and play in my NJ SANDBOX!!!
I would guess (although you say it's 1unit (ouch)) that the insulin isn't leaking and instead your insulin:carb ratio is out of sync. What pen are you using? The Autopen 24 appeared to "leak" and I replaced it with a Lantus SoloStar, it’s a better pen no doubt and doesn’t "leak" as much, but the different in bg is negligible. Maybe that’s just me. 1,3,4: I cant help you there but definently take some time out for your self, i can't imagine how hard it is to do, even if its just an hour a week to check your bg and adjust I:C. Good luck.
