Hi Art,

I find flying is the best time to use your diabetes to your own advantage. Its rare that we can so why not?

I never thought of claiming neuropathy, but i have ALWAYS asked for exit rows or upgrades on long-haul international flights (which for me are very often due to work). I usually say i need space to inject, or quick access to toilets incase "anything goes wrong" (and you have to use that line ). You will be amazed how many times you will get upgraded if flying Economy for just asking for more space when checking in.

When flying to the IDF World Congress in Nov '06 from London to Cape Town i asked for more space, and the woman said it was no problem. Little did i know everyone in Economy had their own seat with someone jammed in next to them, and this kind lady organised 4 middle seats to myself for the whole flight. So i lay down flat after take off and dozed off for 10 hours. I received some dirty looks, but hey, it was worth it!
