As others have said, you can, and should, bring glucose tabs or other low food with you. You should have no problem with security if you tell them you have d. Also have your wife stash a few packs at the bottom of her handbag. Even if they give you a hard time, chances are they'll only glance in her purse.

But, you'll probably not be given a hard time. The only "hard" time I was given in all my years of concert going was at a rave. Security seemed to think glucose tabs would be an ingenious way to sneak drugs into the party. I was allowed to bring only SEALED packs in with me. Thank goodness the glucose tabs were an afterthought and most of them had been purchased en route to the party. somehow I dont' think they'll be that worried at a Billy Joel concert

Once when going to Yankee Stadium I was carying my "night out bag" which is tiny, and as such has meter, syringes, pens, pen tips, insulin, credit card, cash, and ID all stuffed inside willy nilly. I opened the bag, the security guard took one look at all of the sharps inside, made a "I don't make enough money for this" look, and waved me inside with nary a question.

All that is to say, bring what you need and act like it's obvious that it should be allowed in. You should have no problems.

If you want to take your lantus as usual go ahead! I used to take it when I got home from parties, but then again I was younger and stupider than I am now. Now I bring it with and take it if it gets really late. I don't stress about getting it precisly at 11pm which is normal for me, but if it gets to be later than say midnight I slip off to the bathroom and take it.
