Heart failure, unfortunately is more likely for diabetics, so it's no stretch that were it to occur, it's more likely to be fatal. What's not clear, and seemingly not looked at, is whether this is the case even if control is very good. In general, there are too few people with that good control to make that an interesting question as researchers define it. For this forum, that IS a very important question however.
