I found this forum by Googling insulin and fluid retention. I am suddenly experiencing fat ankles, and I don't like it! My ankles were always one of my best features!
I am an 18 year Type II, six months on insulin: Levemir and NovoRapid. I have been (under supervision) increasing my doseages, so that as of now I am taking 70 units of Levemir at night and 30 of NR before meals. At those levels, I am getting fluid retention. Does fluid retention increase with increased doses of insulin, or am I imagining things?
My name is Cara, and I live in Atlantic Canada (I am an American who married a Canadian) with my professor husband, two Jack Russell Terriers, and a Maine Coon Cat who runs the place. Delighted to "meet" all of you!
