1. What type of diabetes do you have? Type 1 (Lada type 1.5 technically...)

2. At what age were you diagnosed? 29ish

3. What type of treatment are you using? Multiple Daily Injections - Lantus & Novorapid.

4. Do you control it yourself (testing, insulin)? If not, who does? Totally by myself

5. How many times a day do you test yourself? between 6 - 12, Less on an easy day, more tests on days when things are weird, or when I'm exercising, or driving, or just feeling odd, etc

6. Does it affect your confidence level at all? Sometimes yes. I always have to be alert and always near my bag of supplies, and that makes me feel a little less confident - I can't just 'let go'.

7. Are you more careful with your diabetes when you are out with your peers?
Yes... have to be, because they don't understand, and I'm more likely to be around unsuitable meals, or spontaneity that catches me out... etc

8. How many times a week do you exercise? between 0 - 5

9. How many times a week does your blood glucose go low? I go low-ish (nothing serious, but under 4mmol) at least a couple of times a week. Maybe up to 10 times a week if I'm not being careful.. but I've never ever had a serious low.

10. How many times a week does it go high? As much as I try to avoid it, it happens often... but that's a vague term, what's 'high' to you? I go over 8mmol at least once a day. I don't get seriously high at all though - haven't seen anything over 16mmol since I started insulin, and I generally would never go over 10mmol, apart from the odd shocker.

11. Have you ever been to some time of camp or a support group for diabetes? No, never - all the support I need is online. I wouldn't mind meeting some diabetics offline but I find they all tend to be for older type 2s. I wouldn't mind that but what I'd really like is to meet people like myself.

Taking on diabetes one meal at a time. It wins the odd battle but I'm winning the war.
Addicted to my Lantus, Novorapid and medicinal chocolate
