Newspaper item on juvenile d

I found a copy of The ( Newcastle Aust ) Herald on the train last night ."Diabetic Disaster " is the heading on the front page. This is a regional newspaper up from me.
This paper claims 27 children per 100,000 are diagnosed with type1 ranking the Hunter Valley, a region within NSW Aust third behind Finland with 40, and Sweden with 32.

The Figures based on T1 per 100,000
Finland 40
Sweden 32
Norway 25
UK 21.8
Australia 21.8
source:International Diabetes Federation
The article says more kids are presenting at a younger age, particularly in the 2 to 5yr age group.
Children with a genetic predisposition to T1 are getting it earlier because they are overweight, obesity might have an effect on T1

A research manager is quoted as saying the obsession of cleanliness might be increasing juvenile diabetes rates.
One of the hypotheses is if you have a sterile life in early childhood then you dont allow the immune system to develop.
Other factors believe to be linked are rates of infections such as viruses and vit D intake.
