Can I cycle with a pump??

I'm due to start pumping in about a month. So today I had an interesting, hopefully not foreboding experience. I cycle to and from work most days - about a 14 k round trip - and normally I listen to the radio. (I can still hear the traffic, by the way, so it's not dangerous.) I have a little radio that I normally hook onto the top of my shorts or track pants. Well today, and I think this was ironic, my radio somehow detached itself from my pants twice during my cycle to school. The second time it occurred I had to tuck it into my undies, not having any pockets on my pants or jacket. And it was uncomfortable. It made me imagine myself cycling along with my $8000 pump and dropping it on the roadside and yanking out the line at the same time! Have I got anything to worry about?? What do other cyclists do with their pump whilst cycling?
