I concur, your fasting glucose test is normal. What this means is somewhat unclear tho. Unfortunately, the fasting glucose is often the last thing to go awry as diabetes emerges. Another tests that helps flag emerging diabetes are that your blood sugar 2 hours after a meal remains at an elevated level (> 140 mg/dL). The Oral Glucose Tolerance Test(OGTT) that a dr gives you checks this. You can probably borrow your mothers meter sometime, to do your own test occaisonally. Make sure you use a new lancet and you will be fine.
You are doing the right thing by watching your carbs. Even if you never become diabetic, you will be healthier because of it.
