| XMenace,
It's no suprise to me that many people think this diet is bull****. BUT, tell that to my father (a type 2) who had blood sugars in the high 300's at diagnosis, went on this "diet" and now his sugars are fairly stable most of the time.
I will have to look into the whole lectin thing a bit closer but overall, the diet seems to have worked miracles for many people who went on it.
I am on it, HOWEVER, I am taking it one step further by also watching my carb intake. For example, bananas are supposed to be a highly beneficial for me (my dad too and he still eats them) but I won't because they are high on the glycemic index.
But, I am not supposed to eat wheat (with the exception of sprouted, live wheat like Ezekiel bread), corn, chicken, etc. I have cut those things almost competely out and let me tell you, my digestive track has been MUCH happier since doing so. I think wheat and corn were huge problems for me that now are resolved by not eating them.
Again, you and others might be right, this diet could be a crock, but I'm not going to argue with the thousands of people in his studies (which shows the agglutination process) or with the thousands who have read his book and tried his way of eating. As long as I continue to watch my carbs, portion sizes, and sugars, I'm sure his diet will be fine. |
