| Steph,
I'm a type 2 and will leave you in the safe hands of Bluesky when it comes to using it a a Type1. I can however say that:
1. It took about 2-3 weeks before I noticed the Met making any difference to my BG.
2. I have seen a number of posts relating to people having gastric problems when taking Met. For me I have in the past 6 months had 3 occassions of bad wind followed by diahorrea. this occured after; eating a large meal, greasy food or taking Met before food. I have not had a problem for months now. I am on 500mg twice daily. Certainly it is recommended that you eat when taking the med, I would suggest eating before taking the tablet. I have seen others say that they eased themselves onto the full dose gradually.
3. I can certainly say I have lost weight since starting on Met, at this point I have lost a total of 50lbs in 6 months. I found that Met is suppressing my appetite and I now eat at mealtimes, not when I'm hungry as I rarely get hungry.
